Learning With the Movies

Psychological definition of learning says it’s “any relatively permanent change in behavior that occurs as a result of experience”. But in reality it doesn’t fit. People are very less to follow what they have learn if they don’t agrees what they have experience.

Concentration and involvement makes it more interesting. We can easily remember movies and their story lines or song lyrics because our whole involvement of mind is nowhere else at that time but when we try to study or learn something new we need to concentrate at that point only; with mind in one place, which makes learning difficult.

Audio and Video tools together are the most effective in teaching process.

Movies are the real reflection of our life, what we see and what we experience throughout the life, it’s an attempt to explain the life story or a plot within few hours.

Learning’s from the movie is an attempt to review movies through management perceptive and extract life and management lessons out of it.

Movies like Chak de India teaches you group dynamics, Lagaan teaches you importance of team work which can lead to victory and leadership qualities, batman Begins gives you ethical lessons etc.

Different people can learn different things from the same movie depend upon their perception about it, which can explain their logic behind it and hence it will be easy to understand what culture they came from, their priorities and values, their experiences in life etc.

“Movies have the uncanny ability to involve the audience at great depths and influence their mind to comprehend, create mental model and take action” – Raghavendra K. (VP and Head HR Infosys BPO)

A great movie can change ones way of looking at life.
